In an article appearing in both the print and online editions of the North State Journal, First Page Creative’s David Larson interviewed the campaigns of both candidates in the Charlotte-area NC-9 race.
Mark Harris is a pastor who has previously run as a Republican for both U.S. Senate and House seats. He defeated the sitting congressman, Robert Pittenger, in the primary and now will face Democratic challenger Dan McCready.
Although the race is in a district that has historically elected Republicans, Dan McCready’s image as a U.S. Marine, business owner and religious family man has some right-leaning voters taking notice — making the race more competitive than expected. In fact, McCready is leading by seven in the latest Civitas poll.
Democrats are hoping to flip this seat and a few more across the country (they need 24 total) so they can take the U.S. House of Representatives from Republicans this fall.
